Here at Pure MD, we offer state of the art laser tattoo removal. Specialized Picosure and Q-switch lasers are designed to remove tattoos of all colors, different inks, sizes and shapes. One should receive a treatment at six to seven week intervals to allow for adequate healing time. Typically, it takes 10 treatments to completely eradicate a tattoo. We offer treatments in packages. Pricing depends on the size of the tattoo, but there is a $100 minimum price per treatment.
The laser emits a highly focused beam of laser light, which passes harmlessly through the outer layer of the skin and is absorbed primarily by the tattoo ink. As the light is absorbed, it is quickly converted to heat or pressure, depending on laser type. The sudden rise in temperature or pressure, within the treatment target fractures the ink into tiny particles. Tattoo ink fragments are carried away by the lymphatic system. Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of tattoos can be treated?
A tattoo’s color, depth, and the chemical composition of the ink all affect how it responds to laser light. Black, red, yellow, orange and dark blue typically respond quickly, while green and flourescent blue may require more treatments.
Does it hurt?
Most patients report little discomfort; however, we do offer a light numbing cream to help reduce any irritation. Many people compare the sensations to the snap of a small rubber band.
What happens after one treatment?
Immediately following your treatment, the area may become whitish-colored and swell slightly. This whiteness will subside in about a half hour. The swelling may last longer, but can be reduced with an ice pack. The tattoo will begin to fade over the next few weeks.
How long does it take?
Depending on the size and the location of the tattoo, each treatment is between 1 – 10 minutes long. Typically, it takes several treatments.
What about post treatment care?
Ointment will be applied with dressing after your treatment. Keep the treated area clean, and showering may be resumed the next day, although you shouldn’t scrub the treatment area. You can resume all activities as normal. Be sure to wear sun screen on the treatment area to avoid sunburn.
Can you remove permanent makeup?
No, unfortunately, we can’t remove permanent makeup. Because of some cosmetic inks containing metallic, the laser may cause the ink to turn black. Once this happens, it can not be removed by any laser. Tattoo eyeliner can’t be removed because of the laser being too close to the eye, just as the ink in eyebrows may migrate up the forehead, causing a shadow effect.
